Paying fees daily: how it works

The daily-fee option explained, with a worked example.

Paying fees daily: how it works

The most common question at the fees desk isn't "how much does it cost" — it's "do I have to pay it all at once." You don't. Every programme's fee can be settled per term, per week or per day, and the daily option is deliberately built for households where a lump sum at the start of term simply isn't realistic.

The mechanism is simple: pay by M-Pesa or bank transfer for whatever you can manage on a given day or week, and the fees office tracks it against your term fee as you attend. If you can't pay on a particular day, that's what the four free college days a term are for — they cover the gap without putting you behind, and they carry over to the next term if you don't end up needing them.

Here's an illustrative example using a real course fee. The Diploma in Perioperative Theatre Technology costs KSh 27,000 per term. Assuming roughly a twelve-week term at five college days a week — about 60 college days — that works out to roughly KSh 450 a day if spread evenly. In practice most students don't pay a perfectly even amount daily; the point is that a fee which looks large as a lump sum becomes a manageable daily figure once it's broken down, and the four free days a term give you real slack around that average.

One important caveat: that KSh 450 figure is illustrative maths for this article, not a fixed official daily rate — the fees office can give you the exact recommended daily or weekly amount for your specific programme, since term lengths vary by course. What's fixed across every programme is the one-off KSh 2,000 registration fee and the option itself: daily, weekly or in full, your choice, adjustable as your circumstances change during the term.
